Week 2 Term 3 2021
Dear Rosary Community
Welcome to Term 3. What a tumultuous start to the term, especially for our 25 new Reception children.
I am unable to formally welcome the students at an Assembly but was able to visit the classes on Wednesday to present them with a Welcome Certificate. We also welcomed a new Year 5 student this term and Mrs Amy Ramsey to our school community.
Following the appointment of Mrs Lisa McCormick as Acting Deputy Principal at McAuley Community School I would like congratulate staff on their appointments.
Staffing changes:
Mrs Caroline Price - Acting Deputy Principal
Mrs Seva Maitianos - Leader of Religious Education
Mrs Mischa Berecry - co-teacher in Year 3SM
Mr Brenton Campbell – co-teacher in Year 5AP
Thank you to the staff, students and families for their adaptability during this time.
It is with very mixed emotions that I inform the school community that Mrs Lucja Kowalski will retire from Rosary School at the end of Term 3 after 35 years of teaching in this community. We will formally farewell Lucy later this term.
Thank you to our parent community who are supporting us adhere to the government restrictions that are in place at the present time and encouraging children to enter and exit the school grounds independently. We certainly hope that restrictions are lifted quickly so that all learning experiences and community activities can resume as soon as possible.
This year we celebrate the eighth centenary of the death of Saint Dominic, who died in Bologna on 6th August 1221.A whole school Mass was scheduled for Tuesday 3rd August but unfortunately with current government restrictions we will not have the opportunity to gather as a school community. We will celebrate this special feast day of our patron saint in class groups.
May God the Father, who made us, bless us. May God the Son, who redeemed us, send healing into our midst.
May God the Holy Spirit, who gives us life, move within us.
May God give us eyes to see to God, ears to hear God, and hands to bring God’s work into the world.
May we walk with God and preach the word of God to all.
May the angel of peace watch over us and lead us at last by God's grace to the eternal Kingdom.
- Prayer of St. Dominic
During lockdown our Year 3 students wrote prayers with a focus on ‘helping hands’. They created posters to send a positive message to others. We hope these put a smile on your face.
World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly was celebrated for the first time this year on Sunday 25th July. As the memorial of Saints Joachim and Ann approaches, the grandparents of Jesus, this is a time when each of us are encouraged to reach out to family, friends, neighbours, the aged, the lonely, and the sick, with the heart of this week’s Gospel words, “I am with you always.”
PRAYER FOR THE FIRST WORLD DAY FOR GRANDPARENTS AND THE ELDERLY
I thank You, Lord,
for the comfort of Your presence: even in times of loneliness, You are my hope and my confidence,
You have been my rock and my fortress since my youth!
I thank You for having given me a family
and for having blessed me with a long li
I thank You for moments of joy and difficulty,
for the dreams that have already come true in my life and fo
those that are still ahead of me.
I thank You for this time of renewed fruitfulness to which You call me.
Increase, O Lord, my faith,
make me a channel of your peace,
teach me to embrace those who suffer more than me,
to never stop dreaming
and to tell of your wonders to new generations
Protect and guide Pope Francis and the Church,
that the light of the Gospel might reach the ends of the eart
Send Your Spirit, O Lord, to renew the world
that the storm of the pandemic might be calmed,
the poor consoled and wars ended
Sustain me in weakness
and help me to live life to the full
in each moment that You give me,
in the certainty that you are with me every da
even until the end of the age.
Amen.
Late last term our 2021 Sacrament Program came to a close with 22 of our year 4 students receiving the Sacrament of Eucharist for the first time.
Congratulations to these students and their families on their commitment and support of the program.
Special thanks to Father Paul, priests of the North Adelaide/ Prospect Parish and the parish team for their coordination of the Masses throughout this time.
We would also like to acknowledge the support of Ms Basile and Mrs Telfer, our year 4 teachers who have supported the students in their preparation.
Your work was greatly appreciated.
The children are excited to be back!
We looked at Peter Cromer's artworks and these beautiful Dream Birds were completed as part of our Home Learning.
