Week 6 Term 2 2021
Dear Rosary Community
Earlier this week you would have received a letter informing you that Jaxon Kaplatzis died. This is a sad time for our school community. I am aware that many of you have provided love, care and support for the Kaplatzis family over the past three years and that we will continue to support the family through their grief. We continue to keep the Kaplatzis family in our thoughts and prayers.
Eternal God
Hear our prayers for beloved Jaxon whom you have called from this life to yourself. Grant him light, happiness and peace. We offer prayers for the Kaplatzis family as they journey through this time of grief. May they be comforted by their faith, knowing that You hold Jaxon in Your arms. Be with all those who loved Jaxon. We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
Jaxon’s funeral will be at Rosary Church on Tuesday, 8th June at 11:00 am. If it is your wish, you may consider accompanying your child to Jaxon’s funeral. Please let your child’s class teacher know if you will be taking your child to the funeral.
In Week 5 and 6 each term the students complete the Pulse Check-In. This is a CESA initiative where we gather information about students’ perceptions and emotions in relation to their experience of school. There are two versions of the Pulse Check-In which are organised and worded appropriately for specific age groups. The insights provided by the children help classroom teachers and the School Leadership Team to respond to individual, class and school areas of concern to ensure that all our children have the opportunity to thrive.
Regards
Susan

Sacrament Program
Last Wednesday night, the candidates preparing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation came together with their families for an information session at Blackfriars Priory School. This was an opportunity for students to work with their families to gain a deeper understanding of the Sacrament of Confirmation and what it means to receive the Holy Spirit in their lives. Confirmation will be conferred to Rosary students on Saturday 26th June at 10am in the Rosary Church.
The next family information session for the Sacrament of Eucharist will be conducted again at Blackfriars Priory School (Frassati Hall) on Wednesday 9th June from 6pm to 7:30pm. All candidates and their parent(s) are required to attend. Any queries please contact me.
A reminder of the dates for Eucharist Masses, to be held at Rosary Church:
- Saturday 26th June 6pm
- Sunday 27th June 10am and 5:30pm
- Saturday 3rd July 6pm
- Sunday 4th July 10am and 5:30pm
World Environment Day
On Saturday, 5th June we celebrate World Environment Day. This is a day acknowledged all around the world to encourage awareness and action to protect our environment.
In light of this, I have included a prayer of gratitude for the wonderful gift of God’s creations.
A Prayer of Gratitude for CreationGod of the universe,
We thank You for Your many good gifts –
For the beauty of creation and its rich and varied fruits
For clean water and fresh air, for food and shelter, animals and plants.
Forgive us for the times we have taken the earth’s resources for granted and wasted what You have given us.
Transform our hearts and minds
So that we would learn to care and share,
To touch the earth with gentleness and with love
Respecting all living things.
We prayer for all those who suffer as a result of our waste, greed and indifference.
We can all do our bit…. Our new bins are working well but we are still working on teaching children how to sort their waste effectively. Our landfill bins are full every couple of days and this is where we can all make a big difference. We encourage you to consider your packaging options.
Filled with Gratitude
Well the night may have come and gone, the fundraising done, but our efforts to improve the lives of SA experiencing homelessness continues.
I have been overwhelmed by your support – your interest in how the sleep out went, your donations and your support of ‘Crazy Clothes’ day and the sausage sizzle. We raised $1035 on Friday which brings the total to:
$3,514.65
The grand total that our school leaders raised is:
$50,422.16
Moving forward, there are many ways to support Vinnies including donating clothes, providing products for our Christmas hampers in Term 4 or volunteering your time to support one of their many services.
Thank you once again to each and every one of you.
We have been very busy learning lots of different things this year. These are some of our highlights.
Genius Hour
During Genius Hour Jess and Cooper explored the history of Pokemon and created a dioroma of their learning. We love Genius Hour because we get to learn about things we are interested in.
Living Things
We researched what living things need to survive. We chose an animal and presented what we had learnt to the class.
Art
We have learnt about cool and warm colours and created artworks using famous Australian icons. They look brilliant.
Geography
It has been fun learning about all the states and territories in Australia. We had to draw in all the states and territories, named their capital cities and find places of significance.
Buddies
We love catching up with our buddies. We found things in our environment that reminded of us God’s creations and took photos of them and uploaded them to Seesaw.
The P&F are incredibly pleased to announce our Family Movie Day to be held on Sunday June 27th at Palace Nova Cinemas, Prospect.

The P&F will be hosting a Quiz Night mid Term 3. This will be our major fundraising event for the year and will be able to announce all the details shortly.
